Xiao Zhu's new album "Show time" JAy wrote a funny song for him, but Xiao Zhu rejected. "I dont want to use his popularity. Also i hope singer and host image has a differece." He decided to lean on himself and composed "Hong Xian", "Ni suo ni de wo suo wo de". They were all commented well by Jay, making him more confident. He wants to make a record studio in hi shome, and compose more music"

Before Xiao Zhu's celebration party, it is rumoured that because of Jolin his friendship with Jay turned sour. Even though Jay did not attend the party but his gift did. His first album "show time" is selling well. Yesterday Xiao Zhu rode a black horse entering the party, symbolizing he turned into a "Black Horse" of the industry. After he realized his report, he said happily: "I originally thought if it can sell 5000 copies then i'll be happy, but now it's many times more!" To reward the staff, he said: "OK, i'll pay for Taipei-Hua Lian train tickets, take the staff to Hua Lian, and they can live at my grandpa's house, this way i can save the accommodation fees". The staff were shouting with angriness.

But Xiao Zhu's good friend Jay was gonna attend the celebration, but because of filming CM he was absent. But to prove their friendship is not sour, Jay presented his gift. When Xiao Zhu first saw the present was "Hidden Track" original movie soundtrack, he said while smiling "We didnt see each other for a month, so now he gives this to me" The other present is a pro mic for concerts, it is also the SHEIRE U40 mic Jay uses for his concerts. THE nails on Taiwanese singer Show's thumbs are painted dark green, those on his fourth fingers are sparkling silver and those on his pinkies are
black.

Show - real name Luo Zhixiang, nicknamed Xiao Zhu (Piglet) - was in town last Thursday to promote his debut album, Show Time. He explained that his
painted nails are merely a fashion statement and not a sign of sexual ambiguity.

"If I don't paint them, I feel weird," said Show, who has previously performed in drag. "But I'm very sure I'm a man!"

Show, who is an only child, remembers being dressed in girls' clothes by his teasing parents.

A buddy of Jay Chou's, and often romantically linked with Taiwan starlet Jolin Tsai, Show is embarking on a singing career after having been a TV host.

It was during a hosting stint in Japan last year that he got into the metrosexual nail-painting habit.

"I saw my Japanese friend with painted nails and found it strange," the chirpy 24-year-old said. "But he convinced me it was the latest thing and I'd be making a fashion statement if I also painted my nails."

In becoming a singer and making the album, Show - who was a chubby kid - was told to shed some baby fat. His weight dropped from 72kg to 62kg. But now he weighs a healthy 66kg.

So, Jolin rumours aside, does the boyish Show have time for a girlfriend, perhaps one who'd help do his nails?

"No, I'm more focused on my career now," he said. "But who knows? I may suddenly meet someone special and marry her the day after. You can't plan these things."

Taiwanese singer-host Alan Luo re-enacts poses on CD sleeve of his new album for The New Paper

TAIWANESE singer-host Alan Luo Zhi-xiang meant business when he named his first solo album, Show Time.

Just look at him, showing off in the middle of the traffic junction between The Heeren Shops and Mandarin Hotel last Saturday .

For a few heart-stopping minutes, he executed a one-hander - a breakdance move that requires him to flip his legs up in the air while supporting his body on one hand.

He did it not just once, but four times.

Several motorists gawked in surprise.

Even screams that erupted from dozens of teenage girls gathered nearby, who obviously recognised the suave star, did not distract him.

But why did Alan pull such a stunt in the middle of Orchard Road?

Well, he was posing for The New Paper.

He was in town last week to promote his new album, and we challenged him to replicate three of the most daring pictures found on his CD sleeve.

Heeren was the place to go, since it's the local equivalent of Tokyo's hip districts Shibuya and Harajuku, where Alan shot his photos last September.

The good sport he was - or show-off, depending on how you look at it - Alan gamely went the extra mile.

Once we explained the concept, he bolted out of his seat and shouted in English: 'Let's go!'

Pose 1: Balancing act

In Tokyo: Alan said he was just standing on a metal railing in Harajuku when the photographer asked him to pose.

'So I posed like I was on a skateboard!' he said in Mandarin.

In Singapore: We found a 1m tall railing behind Heeren, but Alan hesitated, saying it'll be hard to balance himself on the top metal bar.

The one in Harajuku was flat, he added.

'I'm not Jackie Chan!' he joked in English.

But he still agreed to try, and niftily hoisted himself on top of the railing.

He posed with his left fingers never leaving a nearby pillar.

When our photographer tried to coax him to let go for a moment, he protested laughingly: 'I'm only 24 years old! I'm not married yet!'

Still, we must say he looks pretty good.

Pose 2: Big sweep

In Tokyo: Alan and his entourage were just scouting Harajuku for locations one morning, when they spotted two trendily-dressed guys sweeping the streets.

'Wow, even cleaners were dressed so fashionably, so we asked them to pose with me,' he recalled.

In Singapore: We approached a male cleaner inside a boutique in Heeren, but he declined to be photographed.

So we settled for the next two guys we spotted. One was a lanky fan who had been following Alan together with a handful of his female friends, and the other, a rather hunky passerby.

A broom, two dustpans and two chairs borrowed from the shops completed the picture.

Alan gamely plonked himself on the floor.

It didn't matter that a group of around 30 fans, mostly teenage girls in school uniforms, were busy ogling.

The friendly star kept smiling and waving at them, and even shook a few hands.

Pose 3: Stop traffic

In Tokyo: Alan had to lug a silver chair bearing the words 'Show Time' around Shibuya, and he posed sitting on it in the middle of the famous four-way traffic junction.

'Everyone thought I was crazy!' he recalled with a laugh.

'One motorcyclist even lifted his helmet visor to stare at me. It was so embarrassing!'

In Singapore: We were unable to borrow such a chair at Heeren, so Alan said he'd dance for us in the middle of the traffic junction instead.

Once the green man came on, he dashed to the middle of the road and started mimicking Michael Jackson's signature robotic moves.

After a few shots, our photographer beckoned him back.

But, to our surprise, Alan signalled him to follow him, and then, out of the blue, he executed a one-hander.

He even repeated it three times so that our photographer could get a good shot.

When asked why he had suddenly pulled the stunt, Alan said: 'If I want to dance, I must give it my best shot.

'I must let people see how li hai (Mandarin for formidable) I am!'

He wants all eyes on him


HE'S better known as a wacky TV host today, but Alan Luo really started out as a singer.

Affectionately nicknamed Xiao Zhu (little pig in Mandarin, as he was a fat child), he had his break when he joined a Heavenly King look-alike contest nine years ago, and won for mimicking Aaron Kwok.

Fame beckoned after he formed a boy band, coincidentally called Four Heavenly Kings. But the group soon split up - leaving him and another member, Eddy Ou Han-sheng, to form a duo, Romeo.

Alan went on to dabble in acting (Working Girl, opposite Jolin Tsai) and hosting, and soon made a name for himself as a wise-cracking motormouth willing to try anything in variety shows like TV Musketeers and Winning Go!.

And now, he's gone solo with his first album, Show Time, crooning mostly J-pop-influenced hip-hop and R&B tunes. He even wrote his own rap in Japanese for the title track.

The wispy-haired star said he came up with the title himself as his Japanese name is Show, which is the Japanese pronunciation of the last character in his name ('xiang').

'The idea is to get all other artistes to step aside and let me perform, so that all eyes will be on me,' explained Alan, otherwise known as R&B prince Jay Chou's best buddy.

On going solo, he said: 'I'm very happy that people can finally focus on me, and not one whole group. I want people to notice me, my image, my moves.'

300 pairs of shoes, 70 pairs of unwashed jeans

ELECTRIC pink, leopard print, netted singlets and even off-the shoulder tops – you’d expect fashion vocabulary like these to describe a woman’s wardrobe.

But they actually fit Taiwanese host-singer Alan Luo’s wardrobe.

With painted nails to boot, is he a fashion disaster or style icon?

Judging by his copycats in Taiwan, he’s arguably the latter, no matter what fashion conservatives say.

While in town recently to promote his solo album, Show Time, we rummaged through his leopard-print suitcase from a glimpse of his personal style:

Japanese style

Alan’s trendy outfits come from Tokyo’s hip districts, Shibuya and Harajuku, where he goes once every three months to replenish his wardrobe.

“I’m really into Japanese fashion. I have lots of friends who own shops in Tokyo, so we always discuss what’s trendy now,: he said.

“I always get to know the latest fads in the shortest time possible, even before (Taiwan’s) fashion magazines.”

Alan paints his fingernails black but only those of his thumb and little finger. It’s a habit that started two years ago, after his Japanese pals nudged him to.

“They told me it’s trendy for guys to paint their nails, but initially I was lie, ‘People will think you’re gay!’

“Now a lot of guys are following me, because it looks cool. I’m so used to it, I’d feel weird if I didn’t apply (nail polish).”

Leopard print

From his boxers to his shoes, suitcase, bedsheets, curtains, carpet, toilet seat and car seat, everything has leopard’s spots.

But why?

He made a face and declared with pride: “Because I’m man!”

But he was quick to add: “Disgusting, isn’t it? Some people say my room looks exactly like a se qing chang suo (porn place)!”

Sneaker lover

Many people have asked about his white Nike sneakers embossed with his Japanese name, Show, he said. One of a kind, it was specially made for him by Nike, which has been sponsoring his wardrobe for three years.

Sneakers take up most space in his shoe closet, which is stocked with about 300 pairs of shoes.

About one third have never been worn, as he doesn’t want them to be trampled upon.

Alan dreams of buying his own house one day and converting it into his very own shoe museum.

Jeans lover

Hold your breath – Alan never washes his jeans!

He owns at least 70 pairs, and not one has gone into the washing machine, because he’s afraid they will become “stiff like pants”.

But he makes it a point to spray perfume on them after use. One of the oldest is a pair of cut-off jeans that have collected six years of dirt and sweat.

There’s also a new pair of patchwork jeans, which is a copy of what Japan’s style icon, Takuya Kimura, once wore at a concert.

He’s my idol. He’s a trendsetter in Japan and everything he wears becomes an instant fad.”

Not a fan of designer labels, Alan would rather mix and match cheap coordinates.

He pointed to his army pants, which cost him about NT$500 ($25). He did splurge once, but that was a mistake.

He spotted a pair of handmade jeans with his favourite leopard print in the inseams in a boutique in Tokyo in 2002.

The price tage, 240,000 yen ($3,500). But Alan somehow missed one zero and only realized his mistake as the cashier was keying in the amount.

“By then it was too late to back out, and it would have been so embarrassing,” he recalled.

“So I whipped out by credit card to pay, only to be told by the cashier that I had exceeded my credit limit!

“It was the same with my second and third card. I had to call back to Taiwan and specially request for a credit extension.”

But why is he so hung up over a pair of jeans?

‘It’s one of a kind and just my size, so I figured it’s fate,” he explained.

“It’s totally handmade. I can see the blood and sweat that went into it.”

Every few months, Alan will make space for new clothes by giving away some of his old outfits to his friends.

His most famous buddy, R&B star Jay Chou, once picked a shiny black shirt from his wardrobe.

Alan recalled: “Jay really knows how to pick clothes. It was a new hip-hop style shirt that I’ve yet to wear, and very expensive!

“It was painful to part with it, but as he’s such a good friend and it was his birthday soon, so I let him have it.”

Jay wore it for a performance. Which Alan said he later saw in a newspaper photograph.

These days Taiwanese singer Alan Luo is busy recording the MV for the principal track Robot Doll from his latest album Expert Show.

The song takes people on a journey showing the inclination of modern people to choose electronic pets and on-line simulation activities as their pastimes and also forecasts their attitudes towards love in the future.

As a result, the clip's director arranged backgrounds covering eras all the way from the 1920's to 2320 and Alan can be seen in three different outfits including past, robot and future. Alan's record label expressed that only his time travels in the MV already consumed around HK$400,000.

eh iya tuh si xiao zhu ini emang kocak, keliatan dari tampangnya. berhubung g ga punya tvcable atopun sejenisnya, alhasil g ga pernah liat di TV cuma tau dari cerita temen atopun liat potongan cuplikan video-nya dari i-net ... :(

dui...dui, lagunya alan duet energy masuk juga ke albumnya ini. judulnya klo tak salah baca "Yi Ji Cou Pa" = "let's go" ada di track 11 ... [mm]

alan also join forces with energy in the techno-charges let's go
together and flirts with hsu hsi-ti of ASOS in the teasing romance da ren.

his R&B ballards are pleasant too, except his version of the beautifully soulful theme song from the classicis bland by comparison.

fi udah cek di bbrp toko kaset n ternyata kaset lamanya itu sdh gone, mungkin stoknya sedang habis. kayaknya sih musti tiap hari cek ke toko tsb ... :D

di album ke 2 ini masih banyak lagu daur ulang nya kan...

enak juga album keduanya hehehe...iya yg duet ama xiao s..ai jiu shi ni yah..familiar banget ^^

hahah gua beli pirated banget di china cuman 6000 rupiah dan casing bagus dan dapat teks...ntar kalau ada 2nd version dengan bonus VCD toro baru beli deh importnya ^^
