The Secret Life of the American Teenager is an American television series that debuted on ABC Family on July 1, 2008. The plot of the show focuses on the unplanned pregnancy of teenage Amy Juergens, and the effect that it has on her and her family. The show also explores the relationships of her classmates, like Ricky, the troubled drummer who fathered her baby at band camp; Adrian, the “bad girl”, who wants Ricky for herself; Ben, who wants to win Amy’s heart but doesn’t know her secret; Grace, the ambitious cheerleader who is saving herself for marriage; and Jack, Grace’s boyfriend, who is not sure he can wait for her.

sebuah episode pilot yg sangat luar biasa, sangat menarik untuk ditonton
bagaimana dilema seorang cewek pregnant, seorang cowok yg kristen dgn faithnya dia, usaha keras seorang cowok untuk mendapatkan cewek idamannya. Banyak nilai moral hadir di tv series ini. Jelas episode pilot tv series ini jauh di atas The OC dan One Tree Hill

* Mad for these men. Mad Men scored big in its second-season premiere on Sunday, drawing just under 2 million viewers — up a million from its first-season average.
* Secret's out. The Secret Life of the American Teenager registered a pretty significant jump in viewers this week, drawing 3.6 million viewers — which, for some perspective, is better than any single episode of Gossip Girl ever did.
* Bravo, Bravo. Bravo's Wednesday night reality shows continued to do well this week, with Project Runway nabbing 3.3 million viewers and Shear Genius not far behind with 3 million of its own.
* Well-attended lecture. A Primetime special about Randy Pausch and The Last Lecture drew 7.6 million viewers on Tuesday, winning its timeslot.
* Bright flash. Flashpoint has been a success ever since CBS swapped it from Friday nights to Thursdays. This week, it drew 7.6 million viewers, almost equal with the CSI repeat that led into it.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager had the highest premiere ever for an ABC Family original program. "Secret Life" brought in 2.82 million viewers and a 0.9/3 in the 18-49 demo. The premiere only ranks behind the first season finale of Kyle XY in terms of viewers. American Teenager also scored high in the female demos, registering a 6.5/24 in the female teens demo and a 3.1/11 in the older females. The show was recently nominated for a Teen Choice Award. "The Secret Life" won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer TV Show. It beat shows which were also nominated, America's Best Dance Crew, Degrassi, So You Think You Can Dance and High School Musical: Get in the Picture.

With the show's fifth episode, the show became more popular than the CW's Gossip Girl
