I ONCE HAD A TWIN SISTER
i once had a twin sister
she was small and tiny and
so pretty swimming beside me
in our mother's womb.
we had fun together.
snuggling up so close to each other,
telling stories and little jokes
of our own,
giggling and snickering quietly there
under our mama's tummy.
she was really a nice company, my twin.
but nothing ever last forever,
doesn't it?
so then, on that -- i didn't know what --
day, or hour, or minute
-- i hadn't really known --
i saw her getting smaller and tinier i couldn't even see if she was also getting prettier.
and the wall of our mommy's womb,
it was starting to close in,
closer,
and tighter,
and closer.
oh, my poor little twin sister.
such a pretty little thing.
there was just no enough room for you.
and there was just no enough choice for me.
i needed more space,
more air,
and you were, oh, so little...
like a tiny buzzing bee
you would be gone right away.
right when i drew my breath.
oh, my, and you were just right there.
under what would later be my nose.
and so as i took that huge pull of air,
forgive me, my sis,
it was the last time i saw the form of your body.
and it was only like a small blob of dot.
so, i had a twin sister once.
