Last night, one of my dorm-mate punya CDnya Sublime, terus gua coba dengerin sampe' ke lagu yang judulnya Santeria...I realized that's a really good song...I can't believe i missed out just like that...maybe trendhippie ska dulu bikin gua buta..gua nutup mata sama semua yang judulnya Ska...mungkin gara2 teenage boppers yang really don't care about the content of the music, who just follow the flow and acting like they know everything about it, they started to buy the CDs after everyone else did...I'm a bit cynical towards all of that...maybe you're wondering why i take this so seriously....my answer is that's the only way you can get anywhere....
again....i am soo bored
sorry for posting this stupid topic

Look at this quote from one of the members of Smash Mouth, from a Rolling Stone article:
"The new record is heavier," frontman Steve Harwell told Rolling Stone in December. "We need to get alternative radio back in our pockets. Songs like 'All-Star' and 'Then the Morning Comes' [from Astro Lounge] don't exactly fit with what's on alternative radio right now. We're concentrating on making a record that can go everywhere."
Changing their music style to fit the current radio trends...I have absolutely NO respect for Smash Mouth now (not that I had all that much beforehand).
JUST PLAY YOUR ****IN' SONGS, WHO GIVE A **** ABOUT TRENDS....DUMB WANKERS!!!!!!

setuju morningbell.
kasus yang sama juga pernah dilakukan oleh dream theater (very anti-trend). pada album kesekian mereka memutuskan untuk `lebih menjual'. hasilnya? album yang ngebosenin.
tapi untung langsung tobat di album berikutnya.
kesimpulannya, selling-out adalah b.odoh. and no thanks to record companies yang suka mendikte.

Nanti semua band-band SKA indonesia...gua yakin kalo ngeluarin album kedua nggak mungkin maenin SKA 100%...bisa2 maenin R&B or Limp Bizkit's music....

the next Radiohead's album's gonna have singles, videos, and promotional ad which is disappointing....
but yang gua harapin dari album Radiohead yang baru, mereka nggak bakal bikin Hits, terus single2 mereka nggak ada yang dapet nomor 1...
cuma dengan gitu mereka nggak terkontaminasi sama hal2 yag destructive which ruins their essence of music....
Again...Who cares......
emang tuh trend follower dan poseur bener-bener bikin musik rusak, waktu musim ska dulu kasian yang rudies sejati :(

No words or comment for this, it's just so sad really, to see a genre of hope, unity, fun had been destroyed by mindless and controlled followers of trend, also destroyed and rampaged by "posers". It's just really sad for the true followers; Ska for example, when I return on summer 1999 to Indonesia for 3-months school vacation, i was looking foward for a great shows they held at bandung or Jakarta, but then as i arrived to the show with some friends of mine, I noticed lots of kids with hawaian shirt, ties, dress pants with blightful colors of variety shirts and apparently theysaid they want to skanking around, heck some of them even brought a suitcase to shows. I thought "Hey,this is weird, the Rudies i know were not as gleam and flashy as they were and some of the faces i see were recognized as those kids who used to wear 70's tight clothes (hint.. hint, you all know what i'm talking about ;)) and apparently they said to me that they listen to this for a long time, claiming that they're the real rudies. I was so disgusted i just left the place. After a year goes by, i received an email from my friend, said that Ska has dead and replaced by Hip-Metal, i just shrugged, knowing that this really s*ck for the real rudies.
One day, I wished there will be no more following the leader/trend, it's sosad that Ska has gone, but i hope it will go back to its roots, the Underground community, 'cause that's the only place you can express youself without worrying about Fame, Major Labels and teent-boppers.
