MartinPal

Virsia
18-11-2008, 12:21 AM

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 12:34 AM
Nope.., I'm working Night Shift, as Customer Support..
Actually I don't like sugar very much, because my sugar level in my blood quite low, I have to consume more sugar..

Wow.. you're cooking..
What kinda dishes you are cooking right now ??

Virsia
18-11-2008, 12:47 AM
nothing special, just fried egg and and a noodle
what do you expect? so late at this there is no time to wash vegetable and cook some rice
honestly i' m thinking about making fired rice, but no onions left, make fried rice with just garlic seems odd

wow so you're working?
i spent my time at night to download movies because at day, i' m busy at campus and so tired when come home
actually i live alone, in my house my parent's is so far away, they work at different city, making me like an orphan
no house keeper here, and all my brothers and sister already graduate from college, i find myself less usefull for being child

come to think of it i'ts been a long time since i see my family usually once every year they gather in this house
at that time i find my self truely at home

ahh geez, what i'm talking about
btw i'm impressed

MartinPal

Virsia
18-11-2008, 01:04 AM
hmm actually i born at surabaya

this house is my parents house but not primary one, actually 2 of my brother is not my real brother but brother in law
come to think of it i can only visit them when end of semester, at long vacation, i moved here because my grandmother live here alone, but 4 years ago she died, so only me still around here

i attend campus at UMY as medical faculty student, no much happen though but campus schedule is so full, so i'm come home all exhausted

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 01:20 AM
I live in Jakarta..,, and I was born in Jakarta too..
I live with my parent.., and I have 3 big brother they're also live on hte same house with me and my parent, and 1 little sister working in Medan ..
I'm still single..
My last Education is STM Grafika Rawamangun..
I'm not graduated from any college..
Education quite expensive, I'm not continuing my education to the college, so my little sister can go on continuing her college..
I like to hear Japanese Song.., hopefully if time permits I want to learn Japanese Language too..
Maybe some other language too later on..
I don't have fixed scheduled to taking any Japanese Language course because of my job is quite time consuming..

Are you 3rd semester student right now ??
Still awake at this hour, don\t you have any classes for today ??
What major did you take in your university..??

Virsia
18-11-2008, 01:25 AM

at balikpapan my fathe work at coal company, and my neighbours is a japanese, i can teach you a thing or two

hmm i'm no 3 smester student, i'm 4 years student, i enter this college at 16 years old and only 2 or 3 years left for me to study
i love japanese song too, actually i'm downloading anime right now

i't been 3 years i'm not spoken japs anymore, i still remember at basic though

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 01:39 AM
Wow....
You enter college at age 16..

I recently discover again my old hobbies..
And I realize, I like foreign language very much..
Most of the time I was too busy to realize it..
I hope I can learn more.., not only Japanese, maybe Chinese, France, and correcting my English language..

I love to know the basic about Japanese language.., I'm only learning few from internet.., but don't know how to utilize them..

Virsia
18-11-2008, 01:42 AM
first of all do you know how to introduce yourself, that some basic just write it with roman character it's okay
if you do not know i'll help

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 01:45 AM
I hope we aren't goin' out of topic..
That mean..
English to Japanese..

I hope the moderator doesn't mind..

Virsia
18-11-2008, 01:48 AM
hah you're right but if we go to japs forum no one would mind don't you?
but if your not feel it' it's okay maybe next time

some thing doesn't right huh?
ahh my coffee is going out cold, aww man
this thing taste strange when it's cold

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 01:49 AM
okay...

First of all I think, start with the introduction..

Oyasuminasai = Good Night

Watashi wa Martin desu ka = My name is Martin

Know too little :p

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 01:53 AM
I think a new thread is okay, cause the Japanese forum much to advanced, quite stressful when I see the Japanese Romaji language..

Maybe the thread should be, Japanese Language for beginner..

I think I need to learn a lot of Vocabulary too.., cause in every language Vocabulary is the important thing to memorize..

Virsia
18-11-2008, 02:01 AM
that wrong desu ka is use when we ask question in that case you seem forgot you own name coz you asking what is your name
like somebody get an amnesia huh, uahuahuahuha

you can introduce like this:
konbawa (means good night) oyasuminasai ( means you will go to sleep) konichiwa ( means good afternoon)
ohaio gozaimazu (means you say good morning)

so the right thing is:
Konbawa or you can use hajimemashite (means hai or "salam kenal" in indonesia)
either way you can use them separately or two of them instead like this:

Hajimeashite (put some space betwen them) konbawa
watashiwa martin desu (that's the right thing)
yoroshiku (means nice to meet you)
if you feel that person is important person yau can use

hajimemashite
watashiwa martin desu
dozo yoroshiku onegaishimazu ( more polite than the begining)

if you feel want to add where you come from you can add

__________kara kimashite (means i am from _________) blank space you can add location where you came from

example me:

hajimemashite
watashiwa virsia desu
balikpapan kara kimashite
dozo yoroshiku onegaishimazu

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 02:13 AM
Ouch...forgot about desu-ka..
Well... Learning by doing then.. ::hihi::
More learning more knowledge...

Hajimeshite watashiwa Martin desu
Jakarta kara kimashite dozo yoroshiku onegaishimazu..

Add a little bit language

Hajimemashite, Martin desu. O-kuni wa dochira desu ka.
How do you do? I am Martin. Where are you from ?

I think I must learn some vocabulary first..
Quite stressful.. LOL

Virsia
18-11-2008, 02:25 AM
O kuni (means nationality) since it polite frase you must use dochira instead doko, you can make simpler when talking to friends like this:
kuni wa doko desu ka? (O in japanese can be added to word to increase it position to polite one)

LIke this O gozaimazu ( same as desu)

since u use O Kuni u must use polite word so will be like this one:

hajimemashite
Watashiwa virsia O gozaimazu
O kuni wa dochira desu Ka?

the answer is obvious
either this one
you can answer straight trough with indonesia desu or using watashiwa O Kuni wa indonesia desu

remember when people asking you with polite tone, they don't expect you using rude word
so instead indonesia desu you answer watashiwa Okuni wa Indonesia desu

so you know word kono sono ano doko? or kochira schira achira and dochira?
remember not all nation will be use as their original name like this (furansu) means france or perancis
nihon (japan or jepang)

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 02:35 AM
Getting OOT..::hihi::

I think I will ask about Japanese language some other time..

btw why are you still awake? so late like this?
insomnia or something?

Are you insomnia Virsia ??
Don't have any class for today ??

Virsia
18-11-2008, 02:39 AM
i told you i download whole bunch of 5,6 gb movies, can't sleep coz i just awake at nine i usually sleep after come home straight from campus, and stay awake at night

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 02:42 AM
Ouw.. I see..
I think the last message is about downloading the anime movies, but nothing about the answer of when do you wake up..

Ohh well NMD...

What movie are you downloading ??

Virsia
18-11-2008, 02:49 AM
meitantei conan, and stellvia of universe, all in avi format so that's why it's so big size, dl estimate is 12 hour, maybe I'll left my computer online when i go to campus, huehueheuh

reckless thing to do huh?
how about you ? how long will you work

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 02:58 AM
OMG... that is very, very long time..

I work until 8 AM, then I will online again int 8 PM..

Kinda bored in here..
Mostly listening to WinAmp..

Luckily the internet connection quite good..
So I can watch some movies, and download some music too..
Quite good to kill some time..

Actually in my home, My Brother internet and his computer is almost 24/7..
I think as long the bill is remain the same then there's no problem..

Do you pay your ISP monthly fixed, or in quota.. ??

Virsia
18-11-2008, 03:09 AM
fixed one, indosat asked pretty fairly high about 1,2 mil per month, but i can get infinite quota, so will be real waste if you not use it wisely, connection is fast open this page is like opening a Microsoft word page, but write in this page is another thing, you know my pc is quite a fossil you know, so keyboard no longer have word in them, but i change the mother board since core 2 duo available in market, it cost me 5 mil to completely change this computer internal circuit, such as motherboard, video card, and i't processor of course also it ram slot

the monitor is same as an old one not flat one, as i say quite old huh

Virsia
18-11-2008, 03:14 AM
i must say this website very similar to nihonomaru web it's construction seems same, but in there you will receive awards after completing some condition, in case ini this web you can use emoticon, avatar and so on after you advance to next level, in addition you receive a title, i wonder if the creator is same as niho web creator

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 03:35 AM
5 mill is very expensive for new computer..

Only got for Processor (Dual Core ?? Ghz), VGA (Xtreme ? Nvidia/Radeon ?), Mainboard (ECS, Asus, Gigabyte ??), RAM (2Gb??, V-Gen/Kingstone/Apacer ??)..
Any other ??
New Chasing ??
Hard Disk Drive ??
DVD - RW ??

Actually I'm quite good with computer hardware..
I just want to know the details, and when is the date you bought your hardware ??
Sometimes buying computer can be expensive if you don't know the specs..

Virsia
18-11-2008, 03:44 AM
core 2 duo 2,4 Ghz, 2,4 Ghz, vga nvidia G force 9500, gigabyte s series forgot the number, ram 2 slod each DDR2 2 gb, usb kingstone, but monitor still old, also addition for new hard disk, so i'm practically buy new pc but with out cover, i buy it nearly 9 month ago, actually i buy at bazaar at Jogja convention centre, cd dvd rw sony

MartinPal
18-11-2008, 04:16 AM
Ouw.. you bought in Jogja..

Well..., I guess I dunno the retail price Jogja..
I only know retail price in Jakarta..

Wew.. Kinda sleepy..
I think I will see some movies to kill some time..

Sorry if I don't reply after this post..

jojox

i still remember my first english interview.
then again, i went through many job interviews, and i found out that...
well..what they want particularly from non-native english speakers, was a...clear enunciation.
so...I kept on practicing to speak slowly and clearly.
dont rush all the sentences, get all the corners of pronunciation right, and keep your grammar neat.
Never use slangs or common cliche, dont pause often like...hmmm..errr....yeaaah.....ummm..,
Refrain from profanity except that accentuate your point significantly,
In other words, dont use it if it is not necessary, ...
Dont mumble, use working transitions like ...therefore, by the way, however, in addition, while, yet, on top of that, regardless, on the contrary, in reference to, as, and, eventhough, etc.

some tips..

Realta Nua
19-11-2008, 11:04 PM
Tips #2:

Watch your own health.
Never let yourself catch a cold, which will make your speaking unclear..

*Personal experience from someone who's getting a 5 at IELTS Speaking section , only because of cold*

how to learn english, like writing or something..

jojox
02-12-2008, 10:47 PM
well...
what do wish to write?
an essay? For Example:

I. Claim (thesis,statement,main idea etc)
I.1 Reason; facts, figures, data, ====> Transitions: if, then, while, as, because, in spite of,
I.2 Reason, facts from different perspectives =====> Transitions; such that, meanwhile, hence, therefore,
I.3 Conclusions: If ***** then, ******** or, Because of the .*****, therefore *****

Preferable Perspective: 3rd point of view, use she, he, they, it, one, someone, NOT you, I , we, you all, etc
Always use hard facts, figures, statistical numbers, real evidence not just OPINION (opinions never matter)
Avoid cliche, use strong verbs, less passive statements, and put some more various sources to refrain from
bias. (not just wikipedia where any dumbass can write some "important facts" ).

does it give an idea?

...and what about: can't get it off of my mind ( << think i heard that somewhere..)
also correct?

jojox
11-12-2008, 07:00 PM
grammatically? dunt think so...

but you dont have to be so grammatically ass correct when you speak... ::ngakak2::

anyhow...

Examples:
*Although Christiano Ronaldo has earned extravagant fame and recognition, his infamous sportmanships
remains dubious on the field.

*Despite the fact of increasing carbon gases in the atmosphere, the current poll infers decreasing public
interest in the recent energy directives implemented by the local government.

*The researchers has also found, besides the growing quantity of carbon, the major source of greenhouse
gas emitters; agriculture.

hope it helps....

Yup, almost indonesian who talk with english conversation is too bad. Sadly, many people here are affraid and felt shy if they are using english in their real conversation.
Like me :( my oral english is bad ::hohoho::

gw mo tanya perbedaan dari
have, has, had =
can, could
will, would, shall,
thx

Have buat dipakai pada Subject "I, You, We, They". Dan Jamak/Plural buat We dan They (Present)
Has buat dipakai Subject "He, She, It" (Present)
Had (Saya ngerti tapi susah jelasinnya) ::hohoho::

Can = Could
Could bisa jadi Past
Could juga bisa jadi Bahasa yang sangat sopan walaupun tidak dalam bentuk Past.

Will, Would, Shall,
Will di pakai untuk Future(masa yang akan datang), dan semua Subject "I, You, We, They, He, She, It" + Will
Would bisa dalam bentuk Past(masa lampau), bisa juga dalam bentuk Future jika dalam konteks kalimat yang sangat sopan. "I, You, We, They, He, She, It" + Would.
Shall dipakai dalam bentuk Future dan hanya di pakai untuk Subject "I and We" saja.

Sorry kalau bingung, ini gak pakai Rumus Inggris lengkap, but menurut apa yang gue ketahui aja ;D

gw mo tanya perbedaan dari
have, has, had =
can, could
will, would, shall,
thx

Had, Has, Have
Had is past tense: That bird had a yellow feather
Has is possessive: That bird has a yellow feather
Have is present: I have a yellow feather

"Could" is the past form of "can"
Akan tetapi dalam penggunaan, bisa seperti ini..
Can you send it to me..?? = Tidak sopan, karena "can" lebih cenderung memerintah walaupun menggunakan tanda tanya..
Could you send it to me..?? = sopan, karena request/permintaan, bukan perintah..

Will, Would, Shall

"will" forms the future.
I will try to pass the English test.
You will try to pass the English test.
He/She will try to pass the English test.
We will try to pass the English test.
You will try to pass the English test.
They will try to pass the English test.

"would" forms the future of the past.
I said I would try to pass the English test.
You said you would try to pass the English test.

"should" means several things. Here are the two most important ones:
'it is advisable':
It is advisable for you to study English every day.
= You should study English every day.
'it is expected':
It is expected that one baked potato is enough for each person.
= One baked potato should be enough for each person.

"shall" is rarely used in American English. Master the use of "will", "would", and "should" before worrying about "shall".. ::unggg::

thx shall n shouldnya lom ngerti...

berondong_imut
27-12-2008, 05:35 PM
Contoh gampang nya.

Shall = Will, tapi di pakai buat Subject "I and We". Dan tidak merupakan keharusan, tapi merupakan sesuatu yang akan terjadi di masa mendatang/future.
Should = Sebuah keharusan, "You should eat everyday".

CMIIW.

MartinKho
27-12-2008, 05:59 PM
Should = Lebih tepat ke anjuran saja.., tergantung kalimat penggunaan..
Seperti contoh yang di atas..
"You should eat everyday".
Lebih cenderung penganjuran..
Kalo harus, menggunakan
"You have to eat everyday"
Konteks bhs Inggris dan Indonesia agak sedikit beda..
sama seperti Usually dan Often, walau kedua nya berarti sering, tapi berbeda arti..
Walau should seperti nya harus, tapi penekanan nya lebih menganjurkan daripada pengharusan..

Untuk Shall, sebenernya sama aja sama Will..
Cuma perbedaan nya, misalkan Inggris.., orang cenderung menggunakan Shall, sedangkan Amerika, cenderung menggunakan Will..

Qiu ... the word "hell" or "heck" is used for emphasis. When you want to make a point shine through or stand out, you use them. Hell is slightly stronger than heck but it isn't by any means "vulgar".

But, apparently, for some it is "vulgar" enough to avoid using it in the presence of children. :)

Were mungkin yang bener, tapi tergantung waktu yang terjadi..

- All tickets are booked = Present tense
Di karenakan untuk hari ini, jadi misal kan loe yang jadi penjual ticket..
mungkin kalo saat itu di tanya sama pembeli ticket.., mungkin contoh kalimat nya seperti ini..
Can I buy one ticket to Bandung please..?
Sorry, all tickets are booked..
Bisa juga pas saat loe nelpon ke teman2 loe.., dan menjelaskan nya saat itu juga di depan tempat loket ticket..
Sorry guys, all tickets are booked..

- All tickets were booked = Past tense
Past tense, lebih tepat nya telah berlalu..
ini mungkin kalo menjelaskan, bila telah berlalu..
Contoh kalimat nya..
Sorry guys, all tickets were booked..

Booked tetap di pakai karena statement yang berbeda, lebih ke penjelasan bahwa objek sudah habis terjual..

Mungkin diagram nya..

---------Past----------------------------------------Present-------------------------------Future---------
Menjelaskan telah berlalu-------------Menjelaskan saat ini juga---------------------------------------

this is another indo-cultural thing. We dont tend to put the exact date,
instead we'd put only days; Selasa, Kamis, Jumat or else. ::ngakak2::

Great! Well here is my first article ^ ^ please let me know any mistake I've made over the article:

Perhaps you think that the most richest people in the world enjoying luxurious life, wearing expensive clothes, driving luxurious cars, eating in high class restaurants, being lazy in a cruise ship as well as enjoying other luxurious things. Bill Gates, one of the most richest people in the world worth at $57 billion in 2008. Another man who is also considered as one of the most richest people in the world named Ingvar Kamprad worth at $31 billion in 2008.

How come Ingvar Kamprad had large sum of money where most people in the world don't? He could achieve that as he did thrifty life. Although had so much money he keepl taking economical class plane, driving an old Volvo car, even he didn't mind to waiting for hours to buy fruits and vegetables before the price went down. Sam Walton of Wal Mart considered as one of the most richest people in the world worth about $21 billion in 2008. He is well known by other as a person who like to share his space with others when doing business trip to reduce the cost, flying with economical class, even wearing discount clothes that sold in his own discount stores.

Another great example is Warren Buffet. In march 2008, the Forbes magazine estimated his net worth at $62 billion, making him the richest person in the world. Despite has great sum of money, he has never bought a new car, driving his own car, have never abused his driver, even he has never taken his own private jet plane although he has the biggest jet plane company in the world until now. He still living in his small home with 3 rooms that he bought 50 years ago. "I've everything in my home," he said. Regarding to Thomas Staley, he was surprised after interviewed 733 American multi billionaires as they do thrifty life and none of them spend for more than $399 for clothes, they don't drive the newest car, even most of them driving local made car which the age is more than 10 years. Lessons we can learn from them is they achieve wealthy because they do very thrifty life and do life under their standard. Thrifty and stingy are completely two different things.

@berondong imut
go back >>> retreat
after >>> in pursuit of

so go back after him means "menyerah untuk mengejar dia" in Indonesian. Answer for the second question, actually there is no difference between "so do I" and "so am I" in meaning, it's about grammar issue. So do I used when you do the same thing with the person you speak to. As an instance a person says "I love writing" and you also love to write, then you can say "So do I". While so do I used when you do the same thing with others, so am I means that you have the same characteristic with the person you speak to. As an instance a person says "I am student" and you also a student, then you can say "So am I". Hope this help you out ^ ^ however, I'm still learning English intensively to take TOEFL, any correction is greatly appreciated.

Redundant, not clear, repetition, etc : yellow.
Grammar, punctuation, comma splices, etc : red
alternative: black inside (---)

okay...here we go,

Perhaps you think that the most (richest) people in the world enjoying luxurious life, wearing expensive clothes, driving luxurious cars, eating in high class restaurants, being lazy in a cruise ship(not clear) as well as enjoying other luxurious things. Bill Gates, one of the most richest people in the world (was) worth at $57 billion in 2008. Another man who is also considered as one of the most richest people in the world (repetition) named Ingvar Kamprad worth at $31 billion in 2008. (might want to join the last 2 sentences). For instance: In 2008, Bill Gates was dubbed to be the richest guy in the planet with total of $57 billion on his pocket while Ingvar Kamprad collected only $31 billion.

How (did) come Ingvar Kamprad (collect) had large sum of money (when) where most people in the world (didnt)don't? He could achieve that as he (was living) did thrifty life. Although (he) had so much money he (kept)keepl taking economical (economy) class plane, driving an old Volvo car, (.) even he didn't mind to (wait)waiting for hours to buy fruits and vegetables before the price went down. (Meanwhile), Sam Walton of Wal Mart considered as one of the most richest people in the world worth about $21 billion in 2008. He is (hapus)well known
(hapus) by other as a person who like(s) to share his space with others when (going on)doing business trip(s) to reduce the cost, flying with economical class, even wearing discount(ed) clothes that sold in his own (hapus)discount stores.

Another great example is Warren Buffet. In (kapital)march 2008, the Forbes magazine estimated his net worth at $62 billion, making him the richest person in the world. Despite (having) has great sum of money, he has never bought a new car, driving (only)his own car, (has)have never abused his driver, even (so) he has never taken his own private jet plane (.) (A)although he has the biggest jet plane company in the world until (today)now. He still (is)living in his small home with 3 rooms that he bought 50 years ago. "I've everything in my home," he said. (according to, in regard to) Regarding to Thomas Staley, he was surprised after (having) interviewed 733 American multi billionaires as they do thrifty life and none of them spend (hapus)for more than $399 (on?)for clothes, they don't drive the newest car, even(eventhough) most of them driving local(ly) made car which (hapus)the age is more than 10 years (old). Lessons we can learn from them (are)is they (get)achieve wealthy because they (live in modesty) do very thrifty life and (not necessarily outrageously extravagant) do life under their standard. (Hence, therefore, one may conclude that), (t)Thrifty and stingy are completely two different things.

Jazz ..... as I understand it, the TOEFL puts a lot of weight on grammar. More than most other exams. Your article has ... and I'm sorry to have to say this ... a lot of "simple" grammar errors ..... e.g "the most richest" , "do a thrifty life"

At this stage of your development, I would strongly suggest you put more emphasis on "eliminating" your grammatical errors than on perfecting your writing. (for example. more reading, less writing) This would be a much more effective way of landing a greater score on the TOEFL, and not to mention easier. Writing is arguably a lot more demanding, physically and intellectually. (imo that is :D )
Oh, and it also takes a lot more time writing than reading. :D And there's only so many hours in a day ... especially for the working class. Of course at the end of the day you're gonna have to do some writing, at the very least to demonstrate how much you've actually learnt. I'm just saying do less of it as your time would be better spent reading. You will progress quicker that way.

IMO.

Good luck. :)

@jazz,

yeah. sure thing.
err... my tips would be :
*read a lots of english papers; National geographic, Jakartapost, BBC, CNN, New York Times, etc
(it helps you a lot with the current events, common phrases and jargon, enrich your foundational vocabs).
*get used to grammar structure by reading novel; Harry potter, Charles Dickens', or so.
*write, write, and write a lot! practice makes perfect. Try blogging, but try not to mix English-Indo-Spanish on the same plate. Some got used to it because apparently it's an infamous fad/trend, but seriously...overtime, it kills off your structures. I found the last section of TOEFL was challenging; WRITING an essay. Practice on structures (introduction, body, conclusion), and transition words (meanwhile, while, as, in response to, on the other hand, etc) . the more organized piece, the better it is. Plus...try to do them in 40 minutes. >_<

I’ve some questions about the correction.

1. About the “luxurious” word, how to write “mengendarai mobil mewah” in proper English? Because you colored yellow the “luxurious” word so I assume that I made mistake grammatically. luxurious means "mewah" in Indonesian don't it?
2. How to write “bermalas-malasan di kapal pesiar” in proper English?

@snooker
dang, I just wrote another mistake ^ ^ well, I live in Bandung how about you?

jojox
07-01-2009, 10:44 PM
err......red means 'redundant, repetition' and so on. So...grammatically speaking, I thought it was ok. It's just that this word was repeated quite frequently (2-3 times). That's what makes it rather redundant. Dont overuse it. Be creative, look up thesaurus or something, use other words but mean the same or close such as: extravagant, outrageously outpriced, fancy, etc. and be specific to describe something; fancy Audi cars, or the spanking brand new exclusively rigged cars.

so I would write:
*driving fancy cars.
*sunbathing on the deck of Carribbean cruise ship. I honestly dont quite know to describe 'bermalas2-an di kapal pesiar'. :D

The VOA Special English program broadcast for the first time on October 19, 1959. Actually the program was an experiment and the goal was to help people learn English. The program quickly became popular and the program still is.

So, what are the benefits you can get from the VOA Special English program? First, the program provides numerous articles to be read. Second, the program also provides the audio version of the article to be downloaded for free. This is very good to improve your listening skill. The articles are also written in simple words although there are some difficult words. The VOA Special English writers also don’t write idioms, they only use active voice with simple sentences that contain only one idea.

After you feel confident with the articles in the VOA Special English Program you can read articles in the VOA news and listen to the audio version of the articles. What’s the difference? Well, articles and audio files in the VOA News are directed to any listener who is fluent in English or at least able to understand difficult English.

Maybe that's not me ;D
My english grammar skill is not good. ;D

Btw, what is the difference between:
I do eat.
I eat.

I'm seriously confused.

It's usually for emphasis. To make a point or to make it stand out.

For example,

Person A: "You're a robot. That means you don't have to eat, right ??? "
Person B: "Ah, but I "do" eat, although it isn't exactly a necessity. It's just to blend in, really."

ups hahaha ::hihi:: thanks for the correction snooker.

All right, please proofread this article ^ ^

The VOA Special English program <started> broadcasting for the first time on October 19, 1959. The program was actually an experiment and the goal was to help people learn English. The program quickly became popular and (the program = redundant) still is.

So, what are the benefits of the VOA Special English program?

First, the program provides numerous articles to be read. Second, the program also provides the audio version of the article to be downloaded for free. This is very good to improve your listening skill. The articles are also written in simple words although there are some difficult words. The VOA Special English writers also don’t write idioms, they only use active voice with simple sentences that contain only one idea.

PS: I'm not as thorough as jojox at correcting , meaning no specific explanation for the corrections. I do apologise for this.

an emphasis? right.

So, if we don't want to make an emphasis, just use sentence "I eat"?
