BTW ada yang nonton misterious forces blabla (lupa judulnya) di lativi apa tv7 yak gue lupa barusan... ttg psychomanteum, dulu udah pernah dibahas neh di Sightings...

pake ruangan gelap, kasih cermin, terus penerangan seadanya, katanya bisa liat arwah orang2 yang udah gim... kalo versi sightings katanya bisa ngeliat masa depan...

asal tau aja peramal2 jaman dulu metodenya mirip (termasuk nostradamus), pake air di wadah (air=ngasilin pantulan, kayak cermin), penerangan lilin di ruangan super gelap.

SETI and You
In 1999, University of California at Berkeley scientists Dan Werthimer and David P. Anderson worked on Project SERENDIP. They recognized that a limiting factor in analyzing the data from the Arecibo dish used by SERENDIP was the available computing power. Instead of using one or more large supercomputers to analyze the data, many smaller desktop PCs could be used to analyze small pieces of data over the Internet. They devised a screensaver program called SETI@home that could be downloaded from UC Berkeley over the Internet and reside on a participant's home computer. The program can work in residence or as a screensaver.

Here's how the project works:

1. Data are collected from the Arecibo dish in Puerto Rico, where Project SERENDIP is presently conducted.
2. The data are stored on tape or disk along with notes about the observations, such as date, time, sky coordinates and notes about the receiving equipment.
3. The data are divided into small chunks (approximately 107-second blocks) that desktop PCs can utilize.
4. The SETI@home program on your PC downloads a chunk data from the computer servers at UC-Berkeley.
5. Your PC analyzes the chunk of downloaded data according to the algorithms in the SETI@home program. It takes about 10 to 20 hours to analyze the data, depending on the computer's microprocessor and amount of memory.
6. When finished, your PC uploads its results to the UC-Berkeley servers and flags any possible hits in the analysis.
7. After the upload, your PC requests another chunk of data from the server, and the process continues.

The screen saver is divided into three sections: the data-analysis window (upper left), the data/user information (upper right) and the frequency-power-time graph of the data as it is being analyzed (bottom). The chunk of data is analyzed by spreading the data out over many channels using a mathematical technique called a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). If the data are random, then the signal in all of the channels will be equal. If a signal (spike ) is present, then one or more FFT channels will stand out above the rest, above a certain power-level threshold. Next, the program looks to see if the frequency of any spike is shifted slightly to other frequencies -- this shift would be caused by the Earth's rotation, indicating that the spike is of extraterrestrial origin. Finally, since the Arecibo dish is stationary -- does not track objects with the Earth's rotation -- an ET signal would drift over the dish's surface, from edge to center to edge, and a plot of the spike over time would look like a bell-shaped curve. The program tests to see if the spike fits this curve. If these three criteria are met, the program flags the information for later analysis by UC-Berkeley.

The graph screen allows the user to see the progress of the analysis at a single glance. The program notes all of the observed spikes and relays this information back to UC Berkeley for further analysis. Each data set is processed independently by two users for corroboration. If a spike passes the criteria for a possible signal, then other SETI projects will examine the coordinates in greater detail to confirm the finding.

With SETI@home, a computer and an Internet connection, you can participate in SETI research. To date, the SETI@home Web site receives one-million hits and 100,000 unique visitors per day.

monster yang gue maksud itu species yang belon terdaftar/dikenalin... macem lochness/yeti itu binatang biasa cuma di dunia ini juaarraaang banget en nongolnya juga kadang2. Karena nongolnya jarang makanya orang ngeliatnya aneh/mengerikan, so dibilang monster.

whatever dude... but it's not a conclusion... well it’s my personal conclusion, so if u take it as a conclusion then wether u want to take it or not it’s your business :)... but if you take it as an explanation (my actual purpose in that post) I just want to clear things up (specially for kardono)... perhaps you misunderstand me by interpreting what i called "monsters" = something like dedemit, wewe gombel, zombie, jins, sundel bolong or perhaps zergs ::luthu:: (sorry, can't help it :D) or something like that ;p

So I explain what kind of monster i mean here, in my point of view and from witness descriptions i read... monsters like yeti/lochness, from their appereance, they look like animals, not zombies, jins, or dedemit or wewe gombel :D... so I agree with windy reed's word, then i just take windy reed's words and adding some of mine :)

Here’s a little (& my 2 cents) about lochness & yetti :

Scientists believe lochness is actually a dinosaur survive through the centuries. The lochness lake is very deep, very wide and the water is dark, so it is a perfect hiding spot for this "dinosaur", save from us, the humans. This kind of monster not only appears in lochness, but in other countries too (i forgot where).

While the yeti, I can't really say much about this, there's a famous amateur video that captured a furry, human sized animal, walking just like humans. Perhaps an a55hole wearing a gorilla costume? Maybe. But years before and after that video a lot of eyewitness actualy giving similar description just like what was captured in that video, how it look, how it walks, etc. Still think an a55 wearing a gorilla costume? I wonder what kind of loonatic want to spent his/her whole life in the woods wearing a silly gorilla costume scaring people around ::bentar2:. Some scientists even believe that yeti/Bigfoot is actually “the missing link”. Well, about the last one, I think it quite stupid myself.

That’s all I have to say about lochness and yetti. But remember we don’t talk only about those two monsters here and they’re not the only monsters in this earth. There’re a lot of “monsters” out there. Like a giant squid that attacks small ships, or a dinosaur bird (pterodactyl <-- how’s it spell?) found in a mine ( I forgot where), or a giant bird attacking people in a village and a small town in south America.

Earth is big... very big, there're lot of uneplored or even unreached spots by human. So "monsters"? to me... yup, they're exist.

BTW why don't you explain us what is "jin" anyway? :)

Makhluk di bumi bukan cuman melulu manusia,hewan & tumbuhan dan jin sama malaekat ... :o

Kalau di galaxy ini saja yg bintangnya sampai ribuan bisa ada 1 bumi, kenapa ngga mungkin di berapa galaxy lainnya bisa ada yg sama dan ada kehidupan juga. Menurut gue alien ada tapi teknologynya primitifnya sama saja sama manusia (atau ngga ada minat ketemu manusia, yg antar sesamanya juga perang terus ;D).

Andaikata project SETI sampai sekarang juga ngga dapet apa-apa, itu juga karena radio wave yg dari bintang di galaxy lain perlu waktu ribuan tahun untuk sampai bumi.

Ini bukan nyangkut soal agama..tapi "nyrempet" soal teori kosmologi dalam agama (bukan agamanya)..emang daku kan cuma komparasi ttg kemungkinan makhluk selain manusia ,hewan n tumb,jin ama malaikat...yang kayaknya terlalu "sempit" pembagiannya...mengapa "sempit" saya kasih tanda kutip?? karena menurut saya sempit itu sendiri berarti kurang detil..bukan berarti sempit itu jelek...liat aja deh,post sebelonnya kata sempit juga saya kasih tanda kutip... :D
