Aduhhh cakepnyaaaaaaaa ini orang ::waw:: gue dr dulu paling ga suka bin empet nonton drama series mo indo, chinese, japanese, korean, ampe telenovela..ngebosenin en capek nungguinnya..tp buat autumn in my heart gue betah deh sebetah2nya gara2 won bin :X kiyut lagi apalgi senyumnya agak2 bandel gitu, mukanyaa kyaaaa...gue suka banget ama peran han tae suhk... ada yg tau info tentang die? bagi2 dong... yg gue tau tanggal lahirnya die sama ama gue, aduh andaikan bisa ngerayain ultah berduaan ::love::

Tp skrg lagi pada gile2 BYJ sih...haha... Ngga tau di sini udah ada yg pernah buat "Won Bin fans come here" blm yah... Kalau ada, elu coba aja liat2 di situ...

wah ... kayaknya gue punya saingan nih ... :(
tapi nggak apa2 deh ... orang kayak wb pantas kog disukai sama orang .. kalo gue mah suka wb bukan krn perannya di autumn story ... tapi krn kebanyakan websitenya dia ketimbang SSH, jadinya mulailah berkenalan dekat dgn dia .. eh .. nggak taunya .. malah kecantol sama dia ketimbang sama SSH, soale kalo gaya fotonya dia lebih natural ketimbang SSH ... udah gitu karakter aslinya dia bener2 the guy next door ... walaupun dia pemalu (dia ngakuin loh), tapi tetep baik hati & humble deh .. malah ada satu cerita ... waktu itu dia habis shooting dan keliatan cape banget ... eh .. nggak taunya ada fansnya dia datang ... kru yg lain tuh udah pada takut .. krn ngeliat tampang wb tuh udah bener2 bete .. eh ternyata wb dgn sabar dan baiknya mau menghadapi fansnya itu .. padahal menurut tuh kru .... mungkin kalo dia yg jadi wb .. bisa jadi bakalan ditolak .. soalnya udah capek banget sich .. gitu katanya ..

BTW, emang loe lahirnya tgl berapa ??
soalnya lahirnya wb itu ada 2 versi loh .. tgl 29 Sept '77 (lunar year) atau 10 Nov '77 (calender year) .. yg terakhir adalah tgl lahir dia versi calender taonan ... kalo yg pertama versi calendernya orang korea ... dan untuk taun ini tgl 29 Sept itu jatuhnya tgl 3 nov .. jadi fansnya sekarang ini masih tunggu dari keputusan BINUS (fan clubnya WB) .... mana yg akan dirayakan .. gitu ..

kabar terakhir sekarang ini dia baru mau akan shooting bareng JDG di filmnya sutradara yg sutradarain film 'Shiri' yg judulnya 'Flying Flag the Taekuk' bulan november atau december ini .. (diundur terus krn kesibukan keduanya, apalagi JDG yg punya segudang kesibukan salah satunya premier film terbarunya "Coastline")

Tapi mungkin ini film yg ditunggu2 sama WB, soale .. JDG khan fav. starnya WB banget .. Hope we'll see the movie soon deh . :D

(kata gue sich) tapi semua artis korea juga kayak gitu kog kadang2 ... bahkan waktu pertama kali liat JDG ... menurut gue tampangnya mirip Chow Yun Fat .... sementara kalo BYJ .. kalo nggak pake kacamata keliatan nggak bagus ..(sorry fansnya BYJ ) ...

The agencies who knows his term with the current agency will be expired coming December are competing for a contract with him in public, as Won bin's popularity is skyrocketing among major agencies.
There has been a rumor that he would move his agency to other one.
However, every time with it, his current agency has denied the rumor emphatically.
The situation has changed, as the rumor which Won Bin and his agency ran into difficulties with the contract has spread all over.
As people concerned with movie who went participating in Pusan International Film Festival talked about some agency, the possibility for him to move to one of those was brought in again. In particular, a big agency, managing top stars J, S and K, is taking a positive attitude.
The representative of the one said "I plan to propose him to move to ours on a condition that we pay even 1,100,000 dollars and spare no efforts to persuade him because has the possibility to be a top star."

memang sich ... masuk army itu memang suatu kewajiban bagi cowo2 sana .... tapi karena WB diterima di universitas itu akhirnya armynya dipostponed .. bukan dicancel loh .... jadi mungkin tunggu sekitar 2 - 2,5 tahun lagi baru dia masuk army ...

Film WB yang terakhir itu yach cuma Guns & Talks ... setelah itu dia nggak bikin2 film lagi ... yang sekarang baru mau akan shooting dan sayangnya diposponed lagi shootingnya alias jadi tgl 10 January '03 yaitu 'waving the flag of the sun' (ini juga yg jadi alasan kenapa akhirnya government mau menerima postponing wajib militernya dia, bayangkan diundur-undur terus ... udah kayak binatang laut undur-undur ...)

btw, info yang kemarin mengenai authograph sessionnya dia di salah satu mall di seoul berjalan lancar, cuma 100 orang aja yg bisa minta ttdnya WB ... itupun acaranya telat 10 menit karena saking banyaknya fans WB yg hadir di acara tsb, sampe2 si WB dapat minor injured di jidatnya dia (kasihan deh ...) ... mungkin akibat dari agressifnya fans2 WB ... bahkan fans2 WB dari jepang 'n hongkongn berela-rela terbang ke seoul utk hadir di acara ini ... Pengambilan foto di acara ini akhirnya dilarang ...

Seven female staff members of a movie "Guns and Talks" each have revealed one thing!

What is WonBin like in real?

Finally WonBin has completed his screen debut. The movie "Guns and Talks" which has its premiere ahead on October 13. Before we check out his change as a movie actor, we asked seven female staff members who had worked with him for about 5 months. The story that we really wanted to know, what is the movie actor WonBin like in real. Now we are going to reveal in secret seven testimonies to WonBin we didn't know.

Testimony 1 His usual dressing style is a training suit!

Actually before I met him, I thought that he would be very quiet and grave, maybe because of his image in "Autumn Tale." At first he was what I thought. At the first costume working, I thought he was shy of strangers and kind of critical. However, as filming reached the middle, I thought about him differently. As I got to know him, he was really a cute guy. At first he just nodded, but from sometime on, he began to make an abrupt joke. Because he was so reticent that even such one word felt to be an expression of his being quite friendly. Maybe because of that, at the end of the filming, his popularity rose to no.1 among female staff members, behind the scenes. Always coming to the shooting locations with a training suit on, he gave an impression of being down to earth. When by any chance he came with a cotton pants on, he stuck to the comfortable style of broad width. In the film, I dressed him in a cute style like the layered look, according to the idea of his being the youngest, but actually he himself preferred simple clothes of dark colors. He liked knit items the best of all the clothes he wore during the filming. -A costume staff Yang Min Hae-

Testimony 2 'An ordinary guy' interested in celebrity gossips

While working on the film with him, I could not feel at all that he was a star or an entertainer. Actually when I work with stars, I usually expect them to be kind of picky, but he was different. He even listened very interested to celebrity gossips just like us 'ordinary people,' if someone talked about them. It was the same as for his eating or behaving. He didn't look like a star in anyone's eyes, and maybe so, everybody liked him. Actually he was so reticent at the beginning of filming that people were worried about him. I even worried that he indeed might not get along with the staff members. But afterwards, he got friendly with them so much as to crack a silly joke. His image got very different from the one at first, too. In "Autumn Tale," he felt like charismatic and manly, but in the film, maybe because of his lost weight and changed hair cut, he felt like a beautiful boy. Testimony 3 He can drink only as much as two glasses of Soju, a beautiful boy yet!

When I was surprised the most with oppa was at the ending party. While everybody was drinking, receiving and giving Soju back and forth, Binee oppa went out first. It became known that oppa can drink only as much as two glasses of Soju! That day, oppa got really red faced and looked very innocent and tender. In fact, oppa was far from the toughness in "Autumn Tale." Rather, he was so innocent that he looked younger than his real age. I even felt that he was not yet a man, because of his shyness. Testimony 4 Polite to everyone, superb etiquette!

Once I told him as a joke that he was very much like an old man. It meant that he had this side of tactlessness unlike younger people of these days. He by all means used terms of respect to older people, and to those unfamiliar with him, he never spoke impolitely. At a glance, he seemed to use terms of respect even to his manager. Very civil and polite, and for that much, he didn't easily get close to everybody. At the shooting locations, he had a lot of time waiting for his turn because he was the youngest, and whenever it happened, he seemed to enjoy being alone rather than getting along with other people. Heard that usually he prefers having a quiet time alone at home to going out shopping or visiting a hair shop or receiving a skin care. There is one more thing that he likes. It's a camera. Much interested in a camera, he used to ask me for it. While he himself was saying that he preferred taking pictures to having pictures taken of himself, but in fact, he shined the more in a camera lens. At a glance, he doesn't look very well built, but in a photograph, he looks muscular and much more robust. And pretty eyes and lips. A faultless face. -An at the spot photographer Jun Hae Sun-

Testimony 5 A kind hearted guy who likes a puppy

Actually I shared only one or two words with him while shooting together for several months. One was what I must say as my job in a shooting spot, "Turn your face to the light!" And the other was "My hometown is Kang Won Do." In fact he was reticent as far as reticent could go. But he was a popular actor among the lighting team because he was so handsome and of clear-cut features that it made lighting job easy. Looking back on, it seems like he was a kind hearted guy. One day, my younger sibling brought a schnauzer puppy to the spot and WonBin enjoyed very much playing with it. And once, there was a big dog at the country house in Ilsan where we went for shooting, and he loved it stroking it all the time. Seeing WonBin like that, the owner even promised him for sure to give a puppy if the dog has ones. -A lighting staff Yang Ae Ri-

Testimony 6 Saying hello to about 40 staffs every day!

Like everybody else, I thought that he was a man of strong charisma, sharp and cool, before I met him in person. However after working with him for several months, he was more like a shy, cute, playful boy. He felt like a neighborhood familiar friend rather than cool and fantastic. What is the more interesting, he greeted everyday by all means in his own way each and every one of the more than 40 staffs, once in a shooting spot. He made it sure to say something for every person like 'Long time, no see' or 'You changed your hair cut.' And unexpectedly, he was playful. If he changed his costumes and someone remarked that it didn't suit him at all, he remained silent for a while and out of nowhere, made one personal remark, and disappeared, and he looked really so cute then. In the film, he is a computer maverick and so I decorated his place mainly with computer stuffs and he was much interested in computers in real, too. He liked playing computer games, and I heard that he always went out to play games with Shin Hyun Joon and Shin Ha Gyoon. Oh--he was an actor who were willing to learn a lot. At any way, for one thing or another, he had many sides to him that people didn't expect to see from him. -An art staff An Na Young-

Testimony 7 Does his own hair styling in a minute!

Until when I was first forming a hair styling idea, I didn't feel at ease with him. But after seeing him a few times, I realized that he was rather easy to work with. He let his pictures taken with younger siblings of staffs who visited the shooting spot and in a free time played the basketball. He was rather a cute guy. Even though he had a personal stylist, uniquely he did his own hair styling. I had the idea that he had better have his hair a bit wavy and lifted at the back, as he was the youngest in the film. And he went to a hair salon only once a month to get a cut, and usually on the spot, he did his own hair styling with hair wax. And he didn't like putting on a make up very much, so that between shootings, if he had a resting time like for two hours, he always removed his make up and took a rest. A popular star WonBin is said not to like riding a van very much. Generally, vans are known to be cars for star entertainers. Naturally, it will not be unreasonable if a popular entertainer like WonBin rides a van, but acutally WonBin dislikes riding in a van. His management company persuaded him many times, but he refused obstinately and is said to now ride a "Carnival." It is known that WonBin doesn't like riding a van because it itself can be regarded as showing off his star status and be repulsive to general fans.

Dan ini adalah sekilas mengenai sinopsis film ini :

Two brothers (Jin Tae and Jin Suk) are enlisted and dragged into the abrupt Korean War while fleeing with their mother from it. The elder brother who deeply cares about his younger brother goes into the army instead of him to protect him when the younger one is enlisted, but the elder one loses his younger brother, becomes a North Korean soldier, and then encounters his younger brother. No ideology can divide brothers and make them war with each other. This film is about no war and ideology can be rationalized to go before family, brotherhood, and humanity, is about message of anti-war which is before all the ideology. Will depict tragic reality of family dismantled and fellow countrymen torn apart between South and North, all due to a meaningless war.

"Waving Tae Geuk Flag" the ambitious project of director Gang Je Gyu, which will be recorded as the biggest domestic block buster which will cost 130 billion wons (more than 10 million US dollars) in its production, will begin its full-scale shooting on the coming 10th.

Until now, the film with the biggest domestic production cost has been "The Second Coming of the Match Seller Girl" (110 billion wons) of the last year by director Jang Seon U.

The film of the issue which will cost 20 billion wons more than "The Second Coming" is "Waving Tae Geuk Flag" directed by Gang Je Gyu and starring Jang Dong Gun, WonBin, Lee Eun Ju (produced by Gang Je Gyu Film).

The project which took 3 years since it was first started in 2001 in preparations only such as repeated scenario works will crank in on the coming 10th in Jeon Ju.

"Waving Tae Geuk Flag" is a human war spectacle which will depict movingly a tragic fate of two brothers engulfed in the Korean War.

The film has been much talked about since Jang Dong Gun and WonBin was cast as the two brothers. An additional factor which makes the film more noteworthy is that this is the first film in 5 years directed by Gang Je Gyu who made a big impact in the domestic box office history with films like "Shwi Ri" and "A Gingko Tree Bed."

Gang Je Gyu is showing his ambition to make a Korean-style war spectacle above Hollywood movies like "Saving the Private Ryan" and "Thin Red Line."

Sports Seoul-Bunch of Top Stars Showing Up in "Blue" Preview

It has been talked about that top stars attended in large numbers the VIP preview of "Blue" (directed by Lee Jeong Guk, coproduced by Gang Je Gyu Film and Gi O Entertainment) which will premiere on the seventh.

At the VIP preview on the 28th of the last month held at the Ju Gong Gong I theatre in Gang Nam showed up in large numbers top stars such as Park Jung Hun, Jeong U Seong, Jang Dong Gun, WonBin, Lee Jeong Jae, Jeong Jun Ho, Kim Seung U, Choi Ji U, Song Yun A, Jang Jin Yeong, as well as Shin Hyeon Jun, Shin Eun Kyeong, Kim

These top stars showed their expectation for "Blue," packing the theater despite the severe weather of subzero.

Asking to the War--"Was There Ever the High Ground"


"Waving Tae Geuk Flag," the Block Buster of 130 Billion Cranking In Three Years after "Shwi Ri"


Director Gang Je Gyu (41) finally picked up Tae Geuk Flag. After two years of preparation, his movie "Waving Tae Geuk Flag" bugled a march (the press conference) on 5 at Silla Hotel. Three years have passed since "Shwi Ri." Under his flag gathered a galaxy of stars. Jang Dong Gun, WonBin, Lee Eun Ju lead the van and Choi Min Shik and Kim Su Ro were willing to participate in spite of a small part.


The production cost of 130 billion wons, the total man-days of 25,000, the shooting period of 8 months. Construction of a Pyeong Yang Street set costing 20 billion wons, introduction of a visual director. Location all over the country at Hap Cheon, Gyeong Ju, Yang Gu, Sun Cheon. An unprecedented block buster, so that there has been as much controversy.


"Only concerned with the size," "isn't it a trite story," "out-of-date anti communism movie." Director Gang Je Gyu who wrote the scenario silently deaf to the talks and finished preparing for shooting and the actors who waited with faith in him. Why do they want to run waving Tae Geuk Flag in the middle of gunfire of Korean War of 50 years ago, where is the high ground to go to, what is the meaning of it?



#Director Gang


"At first I considered dealing with a situation in a war rather than a war itself.


And then a documentary on the Korean-American joint exhuming work of the remains of the dead that I happened to watch on TV hit the back of my head. I was ashamed of myself for trying to make up a lousy story when there is this strong deep emotion and sadness in a stern historical fact. I completely changed my direction. I decided to find the root of the war in a documentary situation."


What is the root. "It's not petit heroism, patriotism, dramatic realism focusing on visual brutality. I want to maximize love and separation, brotherly affection, deep emotion of people thrown into a war. While former films were concerned with national ideology and soldiers, this one is entirely concerned with personal thinking."


Director Gang finds the potential in the uniqueness of the Korean War. "Korean War was a civil war without a clear purpose among fellow countrymen. So it is deeply and strongly tragic. The whole characteristic of Korean War may be shown through the tragedy involving the characters.


It was a war without a winner.


If there breaks out another war in the Korean Peninsula, every body will lose. Our tragedy is that we didn't make that experience wisely our own for whatever reason. I hope this will become an opportunity to realize the nature of Korean War and to think about in what frame we will have to see our future."


In that way "Waving Tae Geuk Flag" is certainly an anti war movie. Director Gang who says that he wants to relieve himself of the burden left by "Shwi Ri" splendidly with this one film and to be free. He says, "For a Korean film, for myself, 'Waving Tae Geuk Flag' is the last bid for and confirmation of another possibility of the world market." We will see the result around the Lunar New Year holidays of the next year when the film will be completed.

#Jang Dong Gun


The role of Jin Tae who is enlisted while earning his family's living by shining shoes in Jong Ro. His only wish is to send back alive to home his younger brother Jin Seok who was dragged into a battle field along with himself.


He rushed into the film without even reading the scenario as soon as finishing "Coast Line" the low budget film by director Kim Gi Deok. "Because conflicts and personalities of the characters are well brought to life in spite of the big scale," he explains. Of course there was the faith in the director as well.


Director Gang is not denying that the casting was based on his fame in the Asian regions. However, "more than that, I had the desire as a director as well to deconstruct his image until now and to show various sides of him," the director says.


As if knowing it, Jang Dong Gun himself has cultivated his body and mind for months. "It seems like that I met a work the most difficult that I have to put my biggest effort into. I myself will be changed through this film."



#WonBin


The role of Jin Seok dragged to the battle field along with his elder brother. A high school student of an innocent and pure mind is soused and discolored as if drowned in a soy sauce jug in the whirlpool of a war. Since he has to show the change through the expressions in his eyes and face, it will not be easy for him whose only filming experience is "Guns and Talks."


"I used to have a vague wish to do a war movie. I cried a lot reading the scenario. Accepting the separation and death of one family as 'my own,' I am realizing the cruelty of a war. I studied hard to grasp the dramatic flow and worked out strenuously for action."



#Lee Eun Ju


The role of Yeong Sin the fiance of Jin Tae who takes care of three little younger siblings all by herself. A relatively small part even though it got more important than previously for a melodramatic element. Still she didn't turn down the role because of "the big scale of the film I have never experienced and the traditional image of a woman who sacrifices herself for her family and man." "My heart fluttered studying the expression and behavior through photographs."

host: Since you must have been loved a lot as the youngest by your family, I guess you feel the same way in the movie?

W: I am supposed to be loved a lot in the film, but in reality I was not loved that much while I was growing up.

host: Why were you not loved when you were growing up?

W: They kind of ignored me...cause they were all having hard times just making their living.

host: But still, your family are probably watching you now.

W: That's all right...they will understand.

host: How long have you lost contact with your family? I am just kidding.

host: I heard that you (W) trained a lot in martial arts.

W: There are a lot of fight and battle scenes in the movie. Have to deal with guns and I am receiving military training.

host: It is reported that there will be a lot of battle scenes of a big scale since the expense of 130 billion wons is put in the film and Jang Dong Gun and WonBin have received various training to act in these battle scenes.

WonBin has been staying for filming in Jeon Ju located in Jeon Ra Buk Do with Jang Dong Gun since the crank-in on 2/10.

The production company thinks highly of his enthusiasm for the movie. He had attended an action school for months and done a basic bodily strength training and formed the plan for action scenes.

He received personal tutoring from Kim Se Rang (an editor for a special military magazine) who is a military advisor for the film in details such as how to deal with firearms and reactions after firing.

And last week he had his head shaved close.

WonBin said, "I am usually very reserved but feal a lot more comfortable cause I am doing this film with Dong Gun "hyeong" (male version of "oppa"), whom I have known since before my debut. A good environment. Dong Gun hyeong, the director whom I can trust and follow, the production environment totally supportive. This is my second film but I think it will become the most important turning point in my future career as an actor" and showed a strong will.

Besides, at the end of the last year, he moved out of the management company where he belonged since his debut and moved to another company where Yu O Seong is. The actors from Gang Weon Do hard to find in showbiz found congenial friends in each other.

WONBIN IS A WINNER

What we wanted to know about WonBin was a lot smaller things than "his dream as an actor" or "his outlook on life." What he does first in the morning when he wakes up, what he is enthusiastic about these days, and what is his cellular phone coloring music...we were more curious about these everyday little things. Why? Because he hid himself too completely and we wanted to see him too much.

Go to a Morning Soccer Club to See Him


If you ask, "Did you really interview him?" the answer is "Yes." But I want to make it clear in advance that it was a written interview by e-mails. A big part of it was about exercise even though WonBin is not a sportsman. In fact, the talk about workout came from his emaciated appearance because WonBin with a broad smile looked so thin in clothing catalogues and a Baskin-Robbins ad.


S: You look so thin in a recent TV ad. Have you been on a diet on purpose? Or anything afflicting you?

W: My weight has not been changed. I lost a lot of weight during the several months between after finishing "Autumn Tale" and before filming "Guns and Talks" and I have since kept pretty much the same weight. Maybe plus minus 1-2 kgs? But then I burned a lot of fat probably because I keep on working out. So I hear a lot about how I get thinner and thinner. Nothing special afflicting me but I did have sort of a hard time preparing for the movie "Waving Tae Geuk Flag."

S: Do you like a thin body figure personally?

W: No. Of course I prefer a sturdy one. I am satisfied with my current physique but I would rather have more muscles. I do a lot of weight training but hardly gain muscles. With more muscles, I would look a little bit more manly...Maybe I lose weight the more because I like playing soccer.

S: I heard that you are a member of a morning soccer club? Word has been spreading that you are a maniac...

W: I am not so much of a maniac...I liked it before World Cup because it was fun. I am a member of an entertainers soccer team "Winners" and hit a ball in a ground almost every Sunday because then I can totally get over the stress. I can run without thinking about anything while I am playing soccer. I like particularly the feeling after I sweat.

S: Heard that you were the most scoring player with 6 goals in the entertainers soccer matches?

W: I received a three-step collapsible bicycle as an MVP prize and from time to time ride it in the Hak Dong Park near my place. Actually I like playing tennis and working out better than riding a bicycle...

S: Do you like exercise that gets you sweating?

W: Because I feel refreshed. I work out or play tennis as well as soccer intensely until I sweat cause that makes me feel good. I stay in a gym for 2-3 hours. My best tennis partner is a talent Jeong Jun. These days it is so cold that I cannot often enjoy playing it. I am waiting for warmer weather. I play tennis usually at the tennis court in Hyeon Dae High School.

S: I heard that the name of your puppy is "Sen" and that of Jeong Jun's "Chihiro?"

W: It's a dog, not a puppy. It's a mastiff and watch dog.

S: What do you do at home?

W: I play a computer soccer game. Playstation 2 has a computer soccer game named "Winning." I play from time to time Starcraft but Winning is more fun. Sometimes I watch movies. Shortly before, I watched a Japanese movie "Secret" and I loved it so much as to download "The Sigh of an Angel" from the OST album for my cell phone coloring.

WonBin Wept


After two years spent doing exercise such as playing soccer, WonBin finally chose as his next project a movie "Waving Tae Geuk Flag." It is a blockbuster war movie about brothers who fought in the Korean War. WonBin's role is "Jin Seok" who keeps on loving his elder brother even though having a conflict with him who is changing ruthless in order to send back his younger brother home with "the Order of Military Merit." "You and me are one body. We live together or die together" is his representative lines. He is the only person who keeps his innocence in the movie. Isn't WonBin more innocent who even cried reading the scenario than Jin Seok in the movie?


S: It has been such a long time. Two years have passed since "Guns and Talks" in 2001. How have you been?

W: I had a thorough rest. I shot a weekend drama "Ggok Ji" for a year and right after that, I did a mini series "Autumn Tale." At that time I took rice gruel for almost all of my daily meals. I could not take anything other for nervousness. I thought "I can rest finally" but then I did "Guns and Talks" and right after that, "Friends." After that, I made my mind firmly "to get a rest whatever happens!"

S: Often actors use the word "recharging" and what is the meaning of it? What did you do while having a rest?

W: First I sleep a lot. To finish one mini series, we have to shoot all night for last several days. I sleep for several days until I recover from the fatigue. And then watch movies and read scenarios. So in some way end up doing homework for "an actor" but get a little bit more comfortable free from a mental burden.

S: Aren't you guys usually taking a trip? Heard that you like fishing?

W: I like both sea-fishing and river-fishing. I used to go fishing at least once a month but since I was cast in "Waving Tae Geuk Flag," I have never gone fishing.

S: Why did you accept the role in "Waving Tae Geuk Flag?"

W: Originally I like war movies. I liked "Saving Private Ryan." Moreover, it will be directed by Gang Je Gyu, so I made my decision even without reading the scenario. I could have confidence in a war movie directed by Gang Je Gyu. I was excited for several days after I got cast but now I am worried about whether I can do it well.

S: What worries you most?

W: It is difficult to be of the emotion because Jin Seok character still loves his elder brother even though having a conflict with him who is changing heartless during the war. It is the more difficult because the part doesn't have many lines, because the feeling and the expression in the eyes and the face are more important. I try hard to think from the point of Jin Seok. Since I was having a hard time doing it by myself, I began to read the script with a scenario tutor some time ago. We think over "What Jin Seok's feeling will be like at this moment" together.

S: Heard that you had undergone training with Jang Dong Gun for the movie?

W: We received training from Jeong Du Hong, the martial arts director of the film. We should be convincing as Korean War veterans. It was military training such as how to crawl, to fall down, and to fire, needed in battle scenes. I was told that sometimes there are injuries but so far I am safe and sound.

S: Your hair was not short in the press conference? A soldier is supposed to have short hair?

W: I had my hair cut right after the press conference held a little while ago. It is as short as in "Ggok Ji," maybe a little bit longer? I originally prefer long hair to short one. I tend to wear my hair long especially before I decide on a movie or a drama because I don't have to and don't know which role I will take.

S: Did you have your hair cut at "Jenny House," the hair team of the movie?

W: No. At "Culture and Nature" where I usually go. I guess I will not have to think about my hair except for going there once a fortnight and having it trimmed up.

S: What's the current progress of the shooting?

W: There was the crank-in in Jeon Ju on February 9. Before that, around 20 actors gathered all together to read the entire scenario. At that time, I thought "Now it really began." I was much worried and resolved to try really hard.

S: Choi Min Sik, Jang Dong Gun...the casting is splendid. Aren't you worried that you might get upstaged?

W: There is no other way than trying really hard. I would like to hear "good job" from two hyeongs when the shooting is done.
("Hyeong" is the male version of "oppa.")

S: Did you get a lot close with Jang Dong Gun who is the elder brother in the film?

W: I already knew him. We were in the same agency previously. He is hyeong whom I look up to and like. I have been his fan since before my debut. I think doing this movie together with him will be a big boost for me.

S: What is you like on the set?

W: People usually misunderstand that I am introverted, but in fact I am just shy with a stranger. I am even often told that I am funny once they get to know me. I am the youngest actor among the adults on the set. It is only my second film. "Waving Tae Geuk Flag" is a movie mainly about guys similar to "Guns and Talks." It's fun and feels secure working with hyeongs, feels comfortable. I can learn a lot from them and feel that I am growing up day after day.

S: Heard that the genuine production cost is 130 billion wons. I guess you did a big part in gathering investors and don't you think that your guaranty is too small considering that?

A: Absolutely not. I feel honored just getting a role in the film. Film director Gang Je Gyu is the one who makes the movie possible. I am just an actor cast by him.

S: Do you by any chance have any plan to appear on TV?

W: I was born to be able to do only one thing at a time. The reason why I don't appear here and there is because I am poor at tackling multitasks at a time. I guess I will stick to the movie until the beginning of the next year because it is expected to premiere in February 2004.


WonBin Refuses to Be a "Flowery Beautiful Guy"


WonBin is very popular overseas as well as in Korea. These days we often hear about "Korean Waves" but it might be difficult to find a star as popular as WonBin in various countries in Asia. He is very popular in countries like Thailand and Indonesia as well as in Japan where he got famous after broadcasting of "Friends." They are now having a syndrome of "Autumn Tale" which captured the hearts of many Korean female fans.


S: Do you like personally the expression, "a flowery beautiful guy?"

W: I hate it. I hope to discard that pretty boy image and appeal more manly one in this film. I want to hear "a good actor" rather than "a flowery beautiful guy."

S: But most of all female fans are captivated by your smiles?

W: I smile a lot, but I don't like very much to hear that I am "pretty" when I smile. I'm a guy, too...

S: Heard that your photo album "Dream in Heaven" is popular in Japan, but why do you dislike being photographed?

W: I don't dislike being photographed. Sometimes it is fun. You are asking me why I don't do interviews? It is that there were not many occasions to do an interview, not that I hate being photographed. I was busy when I shot and after that I didn't have much to say. It's not that I hate being photographed. It's just that there was not a particular reason why I should be photographed.

S: It is known that they are inviting you in countries like Thailand and Indonesia offering one billion wons for one day autograph session and why don't you accept it?

W: It is partly because of my schedule, but most of all I don't have an autograph session often in Korea as well and I should feel bad for Korean fans if I take a trip abroad for that kind of reason.

S: Any plan for future overseas activities?

W: None yet. As I told you before, since my character is to stick to one thing, I don't have a single plan for domestic activities as well as overseas ones until the shooting is finished. It's difficult to get just one thing well done.

S: This is a digression, but don't you by any chance have people around you saying, "How much, how much do you want?"?

W: I don't know why it became a cant but I myself laugh when they mimic me.


We have yet too many things we want to know about WonBin. But he answered already 28 questions candidly and sincerely. We postpone the next occasion around to February of 2004 when the film will be released. His manager said suggestively, "Maybe it can be sooner" and promised to do a man-to-man interview then, instead of this written one. Maybe then we will be able to hear his tale of bravery in the film to our hearts' content.

An energetic man, Won Bin

Won Bin showed his ability to climb up a mountain during shooting.

He was brought up in the mountain. One staff of Tae Guek Gi highly spoke of him as a great action actor. Tae Guek Gi is about a war film that portrays tragedies of two brothers in the Korean War. Won Bin plays a role of Jin-Seok, Jin-tae¡¯s younger brother, who is forcibly enlisted to the troops ahead of entrance to university.

Before shooting the movie, he was trained at the Action School for only about 3 weeks, but he good at performing the scene of action. For last 1 week, he performed a scene of fighting, so that it could not be found his image of prince.

His physical strength is the most excellent condition. Most actors are exhausted their energy after shooting a scene of war because it is requested for a big motion and there is danger everywhere. However, he doesn¡¯t stop moving his body like playing football with staff even during a coffee break.

Above all, his major change is to get along with staff. He who has been shy of strangers exchanges pleasantry now. One staff said ¡°At first, I worried about his shy character, but I recognized him as a cheerful man.

At present, Won bin who strives for filming Tae Guk Gi declined courteously the role in a Chen Kaige¡¯s new movie. It was a chance able to gain fame as a super star all over the world. He said, ¡°It is almost impossible for me to shoot two movies in the same period and I want to focus on only Tae Geuk Gi.¡±
